Smiths Falls marijuana producer Canopy Growth Corp., weeks after the announcement of robust second-quarter sales, has entered a supply and production agreement with Newfoundland and Labrador. The company, in a news release, stated it would supply the province with 8,000 kilograms of cannabis products annually for the initial two years of the deal and would set up a production facility in Newfoundland and Labrador that would create 145 jobs and could produce 12,000 kg a year.
Canopy, which produces marijuana under a number of brands, including Tweed, called it the largest provincial cannabis supply agreement announced to date. In September, the company announced a supply agreement with the province of New Brunswick. “Canopy’s operations will soon stretch from Coast to Coast, with locations now planned in seven provinces including Newfoundland and Labrador,” Canopy Growth chairman and CEO Bruce Linton said in the release.
